Success Stories

I spent three amazing months in kinnic falls. I’m still in touch with a brother… 38 years sober. If not for kinnic I’m simply not here. God bless.

by Kinnic Falls Graduate

I really appreciate all the kindness and patience of these kind and caring people they went above and beyond to help me get my life together and help me come to terms with my personal issues they are simply awesome and I feel blessed to have gone there.

by Kinnic Falls Graduate

Kinnic Falls offered me so much… The setting was gorgeous, and it gave me the space I needed to make the changes and do the healing I needed to do. It was the space, the support…everything. I used the counseling staff, the groups, the AA/NA meetings in town – I put myself into it.  I even had a kind of spiritual awakening while I was at Kinnic Falls. I went to the library, checked out some books… The people you meet at a place like Kinnic Falls, the cohort you have, they’re like mirrors. They help you understand yourself, and you can offer them insights, too. That group…it was so important.

I went through Kinnic Falls May-Sept 1987, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I’ve been sober 32 years and credit much of it to this wonderful place.

by Kinnic Falls Graduate

Like so many people, drugs and alcohol took over my life. My whole life was on a downward slide. Today, I am Clinical and Operations Director at Kinnic Falls. This would never have happened without the skill and training of the clinical staff who worked with me during my stay there. Their skills provided the tools I needed to turn around my downward slide and to finally manage my addiction and keep it in remission. I take great pride in being part of Kinnic’s mission to provide high-quality care to individuals who, like me, are struggling with addictions.

While living in Gerber House the residents rotate the responsibility of shared house and yard work in a supportive community environment. There are two monthly house meetings.

Clients seeking SUD extended care options (like Kinnic Falls) beyond primary treatment have a much higher chance of achieving long-term recovery.  A recent study published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs reports “6-month abstinence rates improved from 11% at baseline to 68% at 6 and 12 months” for people in sober housing with support.  It’s a fact: clients are more successful with individualized, extended care treatment programs. Our graduates celebrate reuniting with family members, having job security, starting a business, owning a home, and obtaining a fresh start, among many other personal recovery milestones.

When clients take the next step toward long-term sobriety by joining us at Kinnic Falls, they are contributing to something much bigger than themselves. Many of our clients choose to volunteer and work in our community of River Falls — from serving food at shelters, picking up trash in public areas, landscaping, shoveling snow, and mentoring others in recovery. Our clients are truly inspiring! You’ll meet them working at a grocery store or volunteering to fold and stack chairs and tables after a community event. Alumni of our program celebrate sobriety and a full reintegration back into society. They regularly give back to their own communities in a variety of meaningful ways and ultimately, achieve fulfilling lives.
